Pal has thyroid cancer. Nothing treatable. Well, at Pal's age, treatment would kill him before any cancer could.
No timetable available. The Big Bad will happen when it happens.
I'm really good at hospice care. Human and Animal. I go into
clinical mode. No deep thinking. Just make sure food, water, comfort, and meds are available at all times.
With hospice care, in clinical mode, emotions are kept below the surface. Even with the near and dear, the physical care and the emotions of OTHERS come first..Hospice workers must maintain clinical mode until everything else is satisfied, then it's our turn.
Pal's life story is unique and I'll retell it in his eulogy. In the meantime it's: walks on the beach, being tormented by his cats, visiting the grandparents, and being spoiled..

Aw, so sad he has cancer. You are an amazing person with your care for him.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry :( It is terrible news but definitely keep him as comfortable and happy for as long as you can. He looks rather happy on that beach.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry...I hope the remainder of his time is spent on the good things...
