I've spent the last 10 days cleaning up this computer..It sent up red warning flags that I had filled every scrap of memory and was very unhappy about it... I have about 3000 files (ebooks, music, and photos..)that I have to move before it gets happy again...

Since finishing my very first sock...thanks to the NSSKAL..!!!

I was finally able to break open my Cascade Paint Heritage Silk (75 SWM and 25 Silk, color vino!)..which I did thinking DH would help me master the skein...well, perhaps he wasn't the best choice for an assistant...as the skein then had to hang on the coat rack overnight till my MIL was free...
I cannot wait to start my 2nd pair of socks..using this..it felt luxurious just to wind....I'm going to keep the sock pattern to a very simple stockinette stitch till I get a bit more experienced..what I think I love about sock knitting is the yarn...I love watching the patterns and pooling emerge..
In other knitting, I'm still trying to use up that large quantity of unknown yarn that was my original commitment to this YOP..use it up before buying any more! I wish I knew what this purple yarn is..It is lovely to work with, soft and sturdy. It is not acrylic, nor cotton..but that's all I know..I am just finishing up a backwards hat..the cable is the ribbing and the ribbing is the main body of the hat...fun to knit..but I have a long list of yarns I want to try..so I must use this stuff up much faster!
The weather has changed here..we've been in the 40's all week and the icebergs are melting away!

I live alone so I hang my skeins on the back of a chair and go from there or sit in bed with it over my knees.
ReplyDeleteLove those yarns...you practically had me drooling! LOL! Great colors too.
Is your Rott allergic to anything? My Nitty (Serenity) started scratching and smelling and licking like crazy and come to find out she was having a severe allergic reaction to what we're not sure but I have her on Science Diet food and she had a shot and antibiotics because she developed a secondary infection from it all. Her hair is growing back in, she's not smelling or licking or scratching now. The shot is about to wear off so we'll see but the shot is only $18.00 a month and the food is over a $100.00! It couldn't have been the miniature dachsund that was allergic....she doesn't eat that much! LOL!
I haven't gotten as much done since Christmas either...trying to get other stuff done around here and prep for Spring as it gets so hot here in the Summer that Spring is the only time I can get any outside work done. Anyway, I love your projects and you're inspiring me to get going! Take care!
If I'm too lazy to get out my ball winder, I use the backs of two chairs for winding skeins. If I waited for Gavin I'd never get anything done :) Lovely vino colour. Sock yarn can get really decadent, eh? Nice to see a sunny picture!
ReplyDeleteI also like the patterned sock....I'm more attracted to yarn over patterns and I love working with patterned yarn...
ReplyDeleteOne of my eldest boys normally hold my yarn while I wind or else I use the back of a chair or if my mum is over she'll do it lol Love the pattern on the first sock and well done on getting it complete and I really like the look of the new sock yarn. Good looking hat and I like how it's all backwards.
ReplyDeleteOh man, when I lived in Massachusetts I HATED FEBRUARYS. I would sing California Dreamin' to myself on the school bus because I was just so sick of seeing nothing but white, dirty gray and black all winter long. And the yucky slush. Hope you find some ways to brighten up the winter. That Cascade Heritage sock yarn should do the trick.
ReplyDeletePretty yarns!
ReplyDeletethe Mister helped me wind this week, not sure what had happened to my skeins but they did not play nicely with the swift.
What a striking photo of the ice - thank you!
